It’s still Coffee for filmmakers!!
Film is often compared to magic/witchcraft which is not such a bad thing seeing that whenever filmmakers meet magic happens. Ya-sibo? wasn’t spared of this magic making process after successfully hosting the “Screenwriter Coffee Morning” at Alliance Francaise de Bulawayo which had a good attendance and dialogue.
Award winning Bulawayo film production house Ya-sibo? Media is rebranding its monthly social networking meet up “Screenwriter Coffee Morning” to “Filmmaker Coffee Break”. The Ya-sibo? Media team has been holding workshops and meetings under the #indie263 micro-budget film making initiative, a program aimed at opening the film industry to new voices and participants. Ya-sibo? Media Creative Director Lenni Mdawini Sibanda said
We have been hosting our events every first Friday of the month in partnership with Alliance Francaise de Bulawayo, but due to numerous requests we have decided to move our meetup to every first Saturday of the month to get more people attending. We are also encouraging film lovers to attend as we will be premiering new films from our #indie263 alumni.
The event rebranding will be heralded by a short film premiere featuring #indie263 writers and actors. The technical director/cinematographer Thobekile “Blu” Moyo had this to say
We are quite excited to be premiering this short film, the screenwriter and cinematographers are ladies. All this fits in with the #indie263 objective of adding new voices to the film industry, especially female voices which seem to be too few in our space. The experimental short film #3DaysInLove was written by 19 year old Laura Mbeve and explores the dangers of social media love.
The Filmmakers Coffee Break launches on the 7th of April 2018. To participate, film lovers can visit the Ya-sibo? Media social media pages for more details. Let’s attend the workshop, let’s spread the word, the Zim Narrative needs to be shared across borders and this is one way we can be able to share our stories in our own voices. for more details, contact Thobekile Moyo +263778439222 or Email firstname.lastname@example.org.
