We’ve been seeing the media partnership headlines  between MTV Shuga & Gilmore Tee for more than a week now yes? Well it’s time to get the work started. The fifth season of the hit-drama show, MTV Shuga: Down South was licensed to the popular TV Host and Social Entrepreneur, Gilmore Tee as a means to further amplify the vital HIV prevention and sexual health story lines to fans of his podcast and viewers in Zimbabwe.

This media partnership has been further consolidated by the announcement that African cinema giant, Ster Kinekor, will be screening MTV Shuga: Down South in Harare & Bulawayo over a twelve-week period commencing on Saturday 28th October at 12pm. One episode of MTV Shuga: Down South will be shown on a weekly basis at the SK105 Harare City Centre & Bulawayo Centre branches of Ster Kinekor. In line with MTV Shuga’s free-to-air television distribution mandate, each episode will be screened free of charge for the audience.

The TV drama series is produced by the MTV Staying Alive Foundation and made possible by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and supported by MTV Base Africa, as well as a host of other partners.

The much anticipated sixth season of MTV Shuga is currently in production in Nigeria and will feature performances from high profile acting talent including; Rahama Sadau, Shawn Faqua, Yakubu Mohammed & Bolanle Olukanni. MTV Shuga Naija will focus primarily on family planning, contraception, HIV prevention & sexual health education.
